Dimensions: 3 inches long, 2 inches wide, 1 inch thick, weighs 69 grams. History: Shaft tomb burial figure strapped to a board in preparation for burial. The deceased were lowered through long shafts into tombs where workers arranged them in their final resting places, often alongside previous deceased family members. Tomb figures like this one were placed with the fallen to provide companionship, guidance, and protection in the afterlife. Description: Male infant wrapped in a decorated blanket that covers his mouth suggesting an attempt to comfort him in the afterlife. No repairs or restorations found. Mineral deposits consistent with approximately 2000 years of underground burial. Intact. Overall outstanding condition. Provenance: Ex. Private Nevada collection. Ex.
