History: The deceased were lowered tied to boards through long shafts into tombs where workers arranged them in their final resting places, often alongside previous deceased family members. Tomb figures were placed with the fallen to provide companionship, guidance, and protection in the afterlife. Description: Large male figure with arm bands, wearing elaborate headgear, a seashell necklace, and a loin cloth. End of nose chipped, head reattached.
