Dimensions: 4 ½ inches tall, 4 ¼ inches wide, weighs 373 grams Provenance: Ex. Private Jerusalem collection, Acquired in the aftermath of the 1967 Six Day War. Acquired by John McIntosh, MSE, MBA, Ancient Artifacts & Treasures, Winter Park, Florida in 2022. Acquired by The Artifact City collection in 2025. Description: Redware bulbous jar with a single handle on one side and two small square nubs possibly meant to be decorative. Inconsistent clay grain sizes typical of very early pottery. Mineral deposits indicative of approximately 5500 years of underground burial. Small rim chips and surface loss. No repairs or restorations found. Overall Good condition considering the extreme age. Early Bronze Age: The Early Bronze Age in Cannan was from about 3700 BC to 2500 BC. During this time bronze smelting was developed. It also saw the rise of the first urban societies and fortified settlements. The inhabitants at this time in Canaan worshiped a pantheon of Gods.
