This obsidian arrowhead was excavated from an ancient battleground in Tenochtitlan, Mexico (Mexico City). Provenance: Ex. Borenstein Art Gallery, New Orleans, 1960’s to 1970’s. Ex. Ancient Artifacts & Treasures, Winter Park, FL, acquired in 2004.This arrowhead was used by Montezuma’s Aztec Warriors against Cortez’s Spanish Conquistadors in 1521 AD during the fall of Tenochtitlan. This was the Aztec’s last stand against Cortez.Obsidian arrowheads had no chance against the Conquistadors armor.The Aztecs were annihilated. This battle marked the end of the once mighty Aztec Empire.
